CarnevalMarlia
Marlia will host many events you cannot miss if you enjoy having fun with costumes, colours and music!
Costumes, (more or less) harmless pranks, colours standing out from the grey of winter, mouth-watering sweets: raise your hand if you like Carnival!
There will be an entire festival dedicated to this tradition announcing springtime, when adults and children gather in the streets of the town in a kaleidoscope of colours.
CarnevalMarlia has a century-old history, and it is said to be born at the very beginning of the 20th century! The first black-and-white pictures show people crowding the streets; in later years, colour photos show the first allegoric floats.
The papier-mâché floats are the pride of the local artisans, who have organised workshops to teach young people this art. The float parade is opened by Marillone, the official mask of CarnevalMarlia. The floats representing the different neighbourhoods of Marlia all parade and compete for the best allegories.
Music, dancing, face painting, shows for children, and giant soap bubbles are the main guests of the festival, but the real protagonists are young children with their contagious joy!
