When March comes, be ready for a series of unmissable opportunities to take a walk in the charming Borgo delle Camelie (Village of the Camellias) and discover one of the most famous flowers of Lucca and surrounding areas.

March, air of spring, blooming flowers... camellias, to be precise! The villages of Sant'Andrea and Pieve di Compito host the camellias exposition, when for three consecutive weekends the fair attracts many locals and visitors from every corner of Italy and Europe.

The two small towns, appropriately called Borgo delle Camelie, have preserved their charm through the centuries: green parks, founts and streams, small courtyards, secret corners, and heavenly quiet.

Once you reach the area, walking becomes just natural: only on foot it is possible to reach the camelieto, the park where 1000 different varieties of camellias present in Italy are collected and grown. The camelietum has been recognised as a garden of excellence, a title bestowed to only few dozens gardens around the world.

It is a unique moment for lovers of flowers and botanical experts alike to satisfy their curiosity! Nothing is left to chance: the historical villas of Capannori host scientific conferences to discover the camellias, and the camelieto and paths nearby can be visited in guided tours.

The camellia is the undisputed queen of the event and it is celebrated with a full calendar of big and small events in the Borgo delle Camelie and the villas, including walks, taste itineraries, and guided tours.

Free entrance for children under 12.
